THE 2008 - 2009 Choice Collection was released. July 2008!

This showroom contains Zippo's handpicked, CHOICE collection of windproof Zippo® lighters for 2008 through Summer 2009. Released in July 2008, you may purchase these items through July 31, 2009. The 2009/2010 CHOICE collection will be released around July 2009 and will available for purchase through 31 July 2010. Choice lighters not selected by Zippo continued production after the issue year, will limited to quantities in our inventory. Some of the lighters are 'Limited Edition' and subject to availability.

2008-09 Zippo Choice Lighters. This lighter is shaped like a vintage lighter in that the corners are more square than rounded. It has a top and a bottom stamp and will on it's top as well as it's bottom. The Zippo bottom stamp marks the authenticity of every genuine Zippo lighter. The initial system of dots and slashes created to aid identification of lighters coming back to Zippo for repair was later replaced by letters and Roman numerals and still later by letters and digits signifying the month and year of manufacture. Now Zippo draws attention to the top of the lighter with crown stamping. The crown or top stamp is a custom unique marked lighter this as a Playboy licensed product. Whimsical Playboy Crown-Stamped lighter displays the conventional date code showing month and year of manufacture on the canned-style bottom. 2008-09 Zippo Choice lighters. Several distinctive characteristics distinguish the 1941 Replica™ from today’s familiar Zippo windproof lighter. The 1941 case has flat planes with sharper¸ less rounded edges where the front and back surfaces meet the sides. The lid and the bottom are joined with a four-barrel hinge¸ just as they were on the original 1941 design. The inside unit closely replicates the design of the original 1941 model inside unit. Like the outside¸ the sides of the inside unit are flatter¸ with squared edges where they meet the front and back surfaces. The inside unit has fewer holes in the chimney¸ and is also fitted with a hollow rivet that holds the striking wheel in place. The current Zippo lighter has a five-barrel hinge.
